Ann Gorsuch grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in Mathematics and Spanish and with a teaching license through the UKan teach program. She began her teaching career at Chase Middle School teaching math to 6th and 7th graders. Following her passion for language and with a goal of learning about education in another country, Ms. Gorsuch moved to Trujillo, Perú. There she volunteered in a girls youth transitional home with the Corazón de Esperanza organization, taught English to kindergarteners and high school juniors, and managed an outreach program/business for women.
Ms. Gorsuch returned to Topeka in 2015 and began a four-year stint at Landon Middle School where she taught the first cohorts of dual language students that were promoted from elementary to middle school while getting her degree in Educational Leadership through the KSU Leadership Academy. Though it was difficult to leave the classroom and students she loved, in 2019, she became Assistant Principal at Scott Dual Language Magnet. Following the leadership of Dr. Pilar Mejia, three years later, Ms. Gorsuch was named Principal.
Ms. Gorsuch is passionate about learning and believes schools are change agents within a community. She is an advocate of dual language, empowering teachers, and will always claim to be a teacher and Peruvian at heart. She lives in central Topeka, enjoying walks around Gage Park with her dog Penny, playing with her cat Klaus, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and dabbling in many other hobbies.

Ann Gorsuch creció en Overland Park, Kansas y recibió su título universitario de la Universidad de Kansas en Matemáticas y Español con una licencia de enseñanza a través del programa de enseñanza UKan. Comenzó su carrera docente en Chase Middle School enseñando matemáticas a estudiantes de sexto y séptimo grado. Siguiendo su pasión por los idiomas y con el objetivo de aprender sobre educación en otro país, la Srta. Gorsuch se mudó a Trujillo, Perú. Allí fue voluntaria en un hogar para niñas jóvenes con la organización Corazón de Esperanza, enseñó inglés a niños de kindergarten y estudiantes de secundaria, y administró un programa/negocio para mujeres.
La Srta. Gorsuch regresó a Topeka en 2015 y comenzó un período de cuatro años en Landon Middle School, donde enseñó a los primeros grupos de estudiantes bilingües que fueron promovidos de la escuela primaria a la secundaria mientras obtenía su título en Liderazgo Educativo a través de la Academia de Liderazgo de KSU. Aunque fue difícil dejar el salón y los estudiantes que amaba, en 2019 se convirtió en subdirectora de Scott, escuela en dos idiomas. Siguiendo el liderazgo de la Dra. Pilar Mejía, tres años más tarde, la Sra. Gorsuch fue nombrada directora.

Es una defensora del lenguaje dual,empoderando maestros, y siempre afirmará ser maestra y peruana de corazón. Vive en el centro de Topeka, disfrutando de los paseos por Gage Park con su perrita Penny, jugando con su gato Klaus, trabajando en el jardín, pasando tiempo con su familia y amigos y disfrutando de muchos otros pasatiempos.

Lisa Martínez was born and raised in Topeka and is proud to have been
educated K-12 in Topeka Public Schools. She has been a Spanish teacher for 16
years, teaching all levels of Spanish as well as Spanish for Heritage Speakers.
In addition, she taught concurrent education courses through Washburn
University, where she has also been an adjunct professor and guest
lecturer. Ms. Martínez holds an undergraduate degree in Spanish and
Secondary Education from Washburn University, a Masters in Education from Baker
University, a Masters in Teaching Spanish Language through the University of
Southern Mississippi, and is finishing her post-graduate studies in Educational
Leadership through Fort Hays State.
In addition to teaching Spanish, Ms. Martínez spent 11 years as the director of a high school academic motivation and
recognition program and piloted her previous district’s Kansas Seal of Bilteracy program. She was also the facilitator for the foreign exchange students that attended her school, and enjoyed getting to know them and their families.
In fall 2021, Ms. Martínez was named the 2022 Kansas Regional Teacher of the year, and had the pleasure of traveling
state-wide to observe a multitude of schools, speak to pre-service educators, and participate in first-class professional learning. During her experience, she made it a priority to invite the Kansas Teacher of the Year team to Scott Dual Language Elementary in order to showcase the incredible work being done there! Ms. Martínez is passionate about meaningful change and connection, and is known for being deeply committed to the development of bilingual and biliterate scholars and sustainable language acquisition programs.
Ms. Martínez is married with three children, all of whom attend Scott DL. They have a huge family and love to dance and eat!
She is a lover of yoga and is a practitioner of gratitude. In the summer, she and her family enjoy spending time in Colorado and various places in Mexico.

Lisa Martínez nació en Topeka y está orgullosa de haber asistido a escuelas públicas de Topeka para cursar de Kínder a doceavo grado.Ha sido maestra de español durante 16 años, enseñando todos los niveles de español, así como español para hispanohablantes. Además, dio cursos universitarios calificados por la Universidad de Washburn, donde también ha sido profesora adjunta y conferencista invitada. La Sra. profesional de primera clase. Durante su experiencia, la Sra. Martínez hizo una prioridad invitar al equipo de Maestras del año de Kansas a la escuela primaria Scott Dual Language para mostrar el increíble trabajo que se está realizando allí. A la señora
Martínez le apasionan los cambios con un significado profundo y que conectan con la gente, y es conocida por estar profundamente comprometida con el desarrollo de estudiantes bilingües y bialfabetos y programas sostenibles de adquisición
de idiomas.
La Sra. Martínez está casada y tiene tres hijos, todos los cuales asisten a Scott DL. ¡Los Martínez tienen una familia muy grande y les encanta bailar y comer! A ella le encanta el yoga y es practicante de la gratitud y crecimiento personal. En el verano, ella y su familia disfrutan pasar tiempo en Colorado y en varios lugares de México.
