Ann Gorsuch grew up in Overland Park, Kansas and received her undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas in Mathematics and Spanish and with a teaching license through the UKan teach program. She began her teaching career at Chase Middle School teaching math to 6th and 7th graders. Following her passion for language and with a goal of learning about education in another country, Ms. Gorsuch moved to Trujillo, Perú. There she volunteered in a girls youth transitional home with the Corazón de Esperanza organization, taught English to kindergarteners and high school juniors, and managed an outreach program/business for women.
Ms. Gorsuch returned to Topeka in 2015 and began a four-year stint at Landon Middle School where she taught the first cohorts of dual language students that were promoted from elementary to middle school while getting her degree in Educational Leadership through the KSU Leadership Academy. Though it was difficult to leave the classroom and students she loved, in 2019, she became Assistant Principal at Scott Dual Language Magnet. Following the leadership of Dr. Pilar Mejia, three years later, Ms. Gorsuch was named Principal.
Ms. Gorsuch is passionate about learning and believes schools are change agents within a community. She is an advocate of dual language, empowering teachers, and will always claim to be a teacher and Peruvian at heart. She lives in central Topeka, enjoying walks around Gage Park with her dog Penny, playing with her cat Klaus, gardening, spending time with family and friends, and dabbling in many other hobbies.

Ann Gorsuch creció en Overland Park, Kansas y recibió su título universitario de la Universidad de Kansas en Matemáticas y Español con una licencia de enseñanza a través del programa de enseñanza UKan. Comenzó su carrera docente en Chase Middle School enseñando matemáticas a estudiantes de sexto y séptimo grado. Siguiendo su pasión por los idiomas y con el objetivo de aprender sobre educación en otro país, la Srta. Gorsuch se mudó a Trujillo, Perú. Allí fue voluntaria en un hogar para niñas jóvenes con la organización Corazón de Esperanza, enseñó inglés a niños de kindergarten y estudiantes de secundaria, y administró un programa/negocio para mujeres.
La Srta. Gorsuch regresó a Topeka en 2015 y comenzó un período de cuatro años en Landon Middle School, donde enseñó a los primeros grupos de estudiantes bilingües que fueron promovidos de la escuela primaria a la secundaria mientras obtenía su título en Liderazgo Educativo a través de la Academia de Liderazgo de KSU. Aunque fue difícil dejar el salón y los estudiantes que amaba, en 2019 se convirtió en subdirectora de Scott, escuela en dos idiomas. Siguiendo el liderazgo de la Dra. Pilar Mejía, tres años más tarde, la Sra. Gorsuch fue nombrada directora.
A la Sra. Gorsuch le apasiona aprender y cree que las escuelas son agentes de cambio dentro de una comunidad. Es una defensora del lenguaje dual,empoderando maestros, y siempre afirmará ser maestra y peruana de corazón. Vive en el centro de Topeka, disfrutando de los paseos por Gage Park con su perrita Penny, jugando con su gato Klaus, trabajando en el jardín, pasando tiempo con su familia y amigos y disfrutando de muchos otros pasatiempos.

Bárbara Puig was born and raised in Dénia, in the Valencian Community of Spain, where she
grew up speaking both Spanish and Valencian. She earned her undergraduate degree in Early
Childhood and Elementary Education with a specialization in Special Education. Passionate
about languages and inclusive education, Bárbara dedicated the beginning of her career to
working in the field of Special Education in a variety of roles with students from early childhood
through high school, supporting students with diverse learning needs while collaborating closely
with families and educators to ensure every child had the opportunity to succeed.
Eight years ago, Bárbara moved to the United States to continue growing as an educator while
embracing new opportunities to serve diverse communities. She went on to earn two master's
degrees: one in Spanish Literature and another in Teaching and Teacher Education, where she
also completed her certification as a K–12 Spanish teacher. Before moving to Topeka, Bárbara
spent the last eight years of her career working in secondary education, where she developed a
passion for instructional leadership and supporting both students and teachers.
Committed to expanding her impact beyond the classroom, Bárbara completed a post-master's
degree in Educational Leadership, which led her to serve as a high school administrator before
accepting the Assistant Principal position at Scott Dual Language Magnet School. She is
excited to return to her elementary roots and continue serving students, families, and educators
in a bilingual learning community.
Bárbara believes schools have the power to transform lives, strengthen communities, and
inspire future generations. She is passionate about empowering teachers, fostering inclusive
learning environments, and ensuring that every student feels valued, challenged, and
supported. As a bilingual educator, she is especially excited to join the Scott community, where
she looks forward to celebrating multilingualism, biliteracy, and the rich cultural diversity that
make Scott such a special place.
Outside of school, Bárbara enjoys spending time outdoors, whether hiking in the mountains,
relaxing by a lake, or visiting the beach. She loves getting lost in a good book with a cup of
coffee or tea, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She also enjoys long walks
with her very spoiled (and very loved) dog, Lluna, who happily joins her on every adventure.
Bárbara is honored to join the Scott family as Assistant Principal and looks forward to building
meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff while helping create a school
community where everyone feels a sense of belonging and is empowered to thrive.

Bárbara Puig nació y creció en Dénia, en la Comunidad Valenciana, España, donde se crió
hablando tanto español como valenciano. Obtuvo su grado universitario en Educación Infantil y
Educación Primaria con especialización en Educación Especial. Apasionada por los idiomas y
la educación inclusiva, Bárbara dedicó los inicios de su carrera profesional a trabajar en el
ámbito de la Educación Especial desempeñando diferentes funciones con estudiantes desde
Educación Infantil hasta Secundaria, apoyando a alumnos con diversas necesidades de
aprendizaje y colaborando estrechamente con familias y educadores para garantizar que cada
estudiante tuviera la oportunidad de alcanzar el éxito.
Hace ocho años, Bárbara se trasladó a los Estados Unidos para continuar creciendo como
educadora y aprovechar nuevas oportunidades para servir a comunidades diversas. Allí obtuvo
dos títulos de maestría: uno en Literatura Española y otro en Teaching and Teacher Education,
donde también completó su certificación como profesora de español para los niveles K–12.
Antes de trasladarse a Topeka, Bárbara dedicó los últimos ocho años de su carrera a trabajar
en educación secundaria, donde desarrolló una gran pasión por el liderazgo educativo y el
apoyo tanto a estudiantes como a docentes.
Comprometida con ampliar su impacto más allá del aula, Bárbara completó un post máster en
Liderazgo y Administración Educativa, lo que la llevó a desempeñarse como administradora en
una escuela secundaria antes de aceptar el puesto de Subdirectora de Scott Dual Language
Magnet School. Está muy ilusionada por regresar a sus raíces en la educación primaria y
continuar sirviendo a estudiantes, familias y educadores dentro de una comunidad de
aprendizaje bilingüe.
Bárbara cree firmemente que las escuelas tienen el poder de transformar vidas, fortalecer
comunidades e inspirar a las futuras generaciones. Le apasiona empoderar a los docentes,
fomentar entornos de aprendizaje inclusivos y garantizar que cada estudiante se sienta
valorado, desafiado y apoyado. Como educadora bilingüe, está especialmente emocionada de
unirse a la comunidad de Scott, donde espera celebrar el multilingüismo, y la rica diversidad
cultural que hacen de Scott un lugar tan especial.
Fuera de la escuela, Bárbara disfruta pasando tiempo al aire libre, ya sea haciendo senderismo
en la montaña, relajándose junto a un lago o disfrutando de la playa. Le encanta perderse en
un buen libro acompañado de una taza de café o té, viajar y pasar tiempo con su familia y
amigos. También disfruta dando largos paseos con su (muy consentida y muy querida) perrita
Lluna, quien la acompaña felizmente en todas sus aventuras.
Bárbara se siente honrada de unirse a la familia de Scott como Subdirectora y espera con
entusiasmo construir relaciones significativas con estudiantes, familias y personal, al mismo
tiempo que contribuye a crear una comunidad escolar donde todos se sientan parte, puedan
crecer y alcanzar su máximo potencial.
